چکیده

The enzymatic transesterification of several triand tetrasaccharides with vinyl laurate is described. The lipases from Candida antarctica B (Novozym 435) and Thermomyces lanuginosus (Lipozyme TL IM) and the alkaline protease from Bacillus licheniformis (subtilisin Carlsberg) have been used with each carbohydrate to obtain different regioisomers. By using the sugars in their amorphous form, complete solubility is achieved in the reaction media (tert-butanol/pyridine mixtures for the lipases and pyridine for the protease) and high isolated yields of the corresponding monoesters are obtained. Good to excellent regioselectivity is observed for all the enzymes, showing a final complementary picture respect to the primary hydroxyls of the oligosaccharides studied. q 2005 Elsevier Ltd. Novel and Highly Efficient Regioselective Route to Helicid Esters by Lipozyme TLL

Highly regioselective acylation of helicid with fatty acid vinyl esters catalyzed by the lipase from Thermomyces lanuginosus has been successfully performed for the first time. For the enzymatic caproylation of helicid, under the optimal conditions, initial reaction rate was 33.2 mM/h, and substrate conversion and regioselectivity were greater than 99%. In addition, the acyl recognition of the ...

Exploiting enzymatic regioselectivity: a facile methodology for the synthesis of polyhydroxylated hybrid compounds.

Polyhydroxylated hybrid molecules have been synthesized using a protocol based on the regioselective acylation of the target compounds with activated dicarboxylic acids catalyzed by Novozym-435. The procedure implies that the mixed ester derivatives prepared and isolated from the first esterification step act as acylating agents in the second esterification step.

Functional sizes of hepatic enzymes of cholesteryl ester metabolism determined by radiation inactivation.

Cellular cholesteryl ester metabolism is regulated largely by the balance between intracellular esterification catalyzed by acyl-CoA:cholesterol acyltransferase and cholesteryl ester hydrolysis catalyzed by the cholesteryl ester hydrolases. The hydrolases include both cytosolic and membrane-associated activities; acidic and neutral activities have been described in both compartments. Esterifica...

Regioselective conversion of epoxides to vicinal nitrohydrins catalyzed by silica-bound 3-{2-[poly(ethylene glycol)]ethyl}-substituted 1-methyl-1H-imidazol-3-ium bromide as a green and reusable catalyst under aqueous thermal conditions

An environmentally benign procedure for the synthesis of vicinal nitrohydrins via the regioselective ring opening reaction of epoxides with nitrite anion using silica-bound 3-{2-[poly(ethylene glycol)]ethyl}-substituted 1-methyl-1H-imidazol-3-ium bromide as an effective heterogeneous phase transfer catalyst was described. Short reaction time, high yield of products, simple work-up proc...

Alkynyl Thioethers in Gold‐Catalyzed Annulations To Form Oxazoles

Non-oxidative, regioselective, and convergent access to densely functionalized oxazoles is realized in a functional-group tolerant manner using alkynyl thioethers. Sulfur-terminated alkynes provide access to reactivity previously requiring strong donor-substituted alkynes such as ynamides. Sulfur does not act in an analogous donor fashion in this gold-catalyzed reaction, thus leading to complem...
